Description

Research has indicated that more than 120,000 young people aged 16-25 were effected by homelessness in 2019-20, with 58% of these cases not being successfully prevented or dealt with.
Young people facing homelessness often don't know where to turn for suppport and are excluded from official statistics. This can have a drastic effect on mental health and wellbeing, support networks and access to education or employment.
Depaul UK is committed to reaching young people early through various prevention programmes. This session is aimed at all professionals who may have contact with young people and will be particularly relevant for those with specific responsibilities for safeguarding and support.

The session will cover:
- Misconceptions around homelessness and who it effects
- Key warning signs and risk factors of youth homelessness
- An insight into the various prevention programmes offered by Depaul UK
- How to refer young people to the correct service

The session can be booked by emailing ChildrensPartnership@bury.gov.uk
